Best class system in RPGs belongs to Wizardry VII

Best class system in RPGs belongs to Wizardry VII
One of the defining characteristics of the role-playing genre is its class systems. Although not every RPG has classes – Fallout or The Witcher, for example – some tend to be notable for their lack of classes. In some games, class is a single, permanent decision at the beginning of your adventure, and in others it's something that can be manipulated throughout. In most cases, though, it is the single most important aspect in determining how your characters interact with the game world. Thieves

Snapshot: LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

There are so many games out there we couldn't possibly review them all. Welcome to Snapshot, where we highlight games that might fall outside our usual coverage but are still something we think you should know about. Today: LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC.

I have a real soft spot for Travellers Tales' LEGO games. They certainly aren't the pinnacle of innovation, and they're not exactly on the bleeding edge of video game technology. Quite the contrary, they are simple and unembellished, using familiar mechanics and tried-and-true concepts. And, of course, LEGO titles all charm with their lampooning of whatever series they're based on, be it Star WarsHarry Potter or Batman.

In other words, Lego games might not be groundbreaking, but they're generally reliable. In that respect, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes seems no different, though it adds a wrinkle or two.

Criterion Takes Over Entire Need For Speed Series

Gamers were ecstatic when developer Criterion signed on for its first Need for Speed title in 2009, and with its second NFS game coming this fall in Most Wanted, the studio is poised to take full control of the franchise.
We talked to Criterion vice president Alex Ward at E3, and he revealed that from now on Criterion will be in charge of the entire franchise. When asked whether he thought EA's original plan to release a Need for Speed title of some kind every year was watering down the series, Ward said, "Maybe it's been that way in the past, but that's changed this year with what we're doing… Our stamp's going to be in everything you see in Need for Speed and Burnout going forward in the future. It's not going to be spread anymore across different companies. Different studios have had a crack at it - it's definitely a Criterion gig now.
"Going forward now, with Most Wanted and

Dreamworks is making the Need for Speed movie

Back in April, we heard that EA, script in hand, was courting several film companies (Paramount, Warner Bros. and Sony, specifically) over the prospect of making a movie based on the Need For Speed franchise. As it turns out, Dreamworks has taken the bait and will be fast-tracking the project for a 2014 release, the company announced today.

The screenplay, penned by brothers George and John Gatins, is not based on any specific game in the franchise, but rather the series as a whole, which means that the movie will have cars in it and be called "Need for Speed." It'll be directed by

The 30 best Windows Phone games

Windows Phone is coming into its own as a gaming platform—here are the games you must play now.
assassinDon't let anyone tell you otherwise: While virtually no one was looking, Windows Phone 7.5 has fast become a great gaming platform. A few key developers—notably Zynga and OMGPOP, among others—aren't on board yet, but many of the big ones are. Windows Phone is even racking up some exclusives you can't get on Android or iOS. The best part: All the games listed here look great and play smoothly. Don't let Windows Phone's current lack of support for dual-core CPUs get to you.

It's only going to get better from here as well. Thanks in large part to Nokia's

Top 3 Best PC Games

1. Portal 2
sp_a2_bts20020_tga_jpgcopy-res.jpg
A must buy, must play experience that will keep you smiling for up to a week later, and chuckling when you remember a joke from the game. Be prepared for people to walk up and ask, "What's so funny? Share the joke with us." Do them a favour, and let them try it out.

2. Deux Ex Human Revolution

The cover system in Deus Ex: Human Revolutions is good - it could've been better. We liked the overall graphics and presentation of the game (smoke billowing out of manholes, shadows, etc.), its mostly dark, gritty, with exceptional visual contrast - sets the stage very well to get in character. Just like the sights, the in-game sound is quite engrossing. There are a few niggles in the game, we won't deny - dated facial animation, Adam Jensen's voice, and slightly lengthy load times. But that doesn't take away anything from Deus Ex: Human Revolution's overall experience, which is quite simply an A+.

3. Dead Space 2

REVIEW:-Many believe that the survival horror genre has been dying a slow death, and rightly so. The Resident Evil franchise has lost the plot (in terms of the genre that is; RE5 was a good game nonetheless) while Silent Hill: Shattered Memories took a turn for the bizarre with a total lack of combat. I would call Resident Evil 2 the very peak of the genre. It refined the quintessential survival horror mechanics with debilitating combat system that brought a sense of dread and urgency to the action, while a brilliant storyline immersed one into the horror.
