iTunes store in India, how Successful?

iTunes store in India, how Successful?

will it work?

The most famous music and movies store of the internet is here in India Too.

At the prices it is offering and will it survive the tough competition?

Users will now be able to buy music from Indian and international artists because apple has introduced over 20 million songs through the Store. Apple said the "service was launched in 56 countries on Tuesday, but users in only four countries (Russia, Turkey, India and Indonesia) will be able to buy or rent movies."

Some people believe that it is the ace of spades against growing android marketplace which is expanding worldwide and generate interest in the "iProduct" lineups.

iTunes store for India has surely been 'Indianized' to provide a more personal experience to the users, for example the movies tab has been renamed to Films for the general public here.

Catching the nerve of the general public here it is also providing a free single of the week.

iTunes also has realized that people like the movies here with the songs so it is also providing soundtrack +movie combo for DDLJ.

The major drawback with the Indian store is the lack of TV Shows that would have guaranteed it an edge  over all other competitors such as flip-kart.

The pricing system is as follows:

Songs for ₹ 12 and complete album priced accordingly
Movies

Buying:
Standard Definition: 290
High Definition: 490

Renting

Standard Definition: 80
High Definition: 120

The Books section contains free non copyrights e-Books on the front for the children and adults.

The Podcast and iTunes U Sections are the same on comparing to the iTunes US store the Indian store does not have even 25% of the quantity of material present there.

The future looks bleak because piracy of the things that they are selling is common in India and poses a huge threat to the success of iTunes Store.

A common problem that persists with iTunes is device dependency, which will result in a huge advantage to its competitors.

Only Time can tell what the future has in its bag for Apple.
